Artekaria was created in 2022 as part of the ZAPART network project and with the support of the Basque Cultural Institute. It provides visibility for the rich art ecosystem that exists in the Basque Country (Euskal Herria).
In addition to exhibitions, the portal brings together calls for projects and artistic grants, news from art schools, articles and analyses on art, and a directory of venues and institutions.
The portal is participatory. Art galleries and professional artists who have created an account can propose and publish their activities.
The name ARTEKARIA can have different meanings: on the one hand, it can be the mediator between artists and the public, between artists and institutions, and of course between artists and artists; it can also mean "one who brings art" or "artist", stimulating and supporting creation so that artists can continue to exist and gain a certain degree of dignity. This is the philosophy behind this project.
